Bhajanlal Sharma hails from Atari village in Nadbai tehsil, Bharatpur district, Rajasthan. He comes from a humble background and before entering full-time politics, he worked in agriculture and mineral supplies. He later pursued higher education and holds a Master’s degree in Political Science.

Bhajanlal Sharma began his political journey through student politics and various organisational roles. In 2000, he was elected as the Sarpanch of his village. He contested the 2003 assembly election from Nadbai but lost. Over the years, he held numerous organisational positions, including district-level posts in Bharatpur and Jaipur, as well as serving as the state vice-president and state general secretary of his party.

In the 2023 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election, Sharma contested from the Sanganer constituency and won, becoming a first-time MLA. On 12 December 2023, he was chosen as the Chief Minister-designate, a decision that surprised many. He was officially sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Rajasthan on 15 December 2023.

Bhajanlal Sharma holds a Master’s degree in Political Science. Apart from politics, he has been associated with agriculture and the mineral supplies business. He is known for his grassroots-level work and long-term involvement in party organisation.

Sharma is widely recognised as a grassroots political worker with decades of organisational experience. His elevation from a first-time MLA to Chief Minister is considered a significant and surprising appointment, reflecting his influence and longstanding dedication within the party structure.
